It interests me to give new life to something no one could imagined it could have. There are things in life that pass us by which may not inspire us. I have the ability to give it new energy by taking life's real elements and transform them in my work. I use color to completely change its structure and I can change the background to remove anything that does not inspire me. I am very satisfied with the results I have achieved with my work. But like most artist, it is much more satisfying when the majority of the people like you, can enjoy and appreciate the results of my work with me. Tony Galindo |
Born in Havana, Cuba, Tony was taught the principles of
photography by his father. He continued his studies in
photography while attending school and later perfected his skills in
the army working as a civil photographer. In 1980 due to the
obvious political differences and social economic instabilities, he
left Cuba to come to America. A few years later, he moved to
Southern California and worked as a duplicating technician in
Hollywood.
The idea of manipulating his photographs began when he was not
satisfied with the results of an image he had processed. In order
to correct the imperfections he was seeing, he added color
directly onto the film to create different effects and to add
dimension. Without the use of computer graphics he has created a
unique process that combines both photography and other forms
of mixed media to give his work new life and artistic value. The end
result makes his photographs uniquely beautiful.
Currently living in L.A., Tony continues to experiment with new
techniques and other forms of media to manipulate his images,
obtaining better results each time. In addition, he also creates his
own frames to enhance his finished artwork. Tony’s work has
been featured at a variety of art festivals throughout California
from San Jose to San Diego and in Arizona. His work has also
attracted the attention of Hollywood. Featured on shows like
ER, Without a Trace, Private Practice and Sleeper Cell just to
name a few.
